I like Annie Proulx's books and this was a great collection of short stories based in Wyoming and around a cast of cowboys and prairie folk from early settlers to ranch owners of the present day. I especially liked
I've Always Loved this Place, a story that has the devil dreaming up ways to renovate hell - the part of hell he designs for the participants in the Tour de France had me wondering why Annie Proulx has sch an obvious distaste of professional bike riders. Annie Proulx has a great way of telling a story that appears on face value as unsentimental but that touches you nevertheless.
