God comes down to Earth to check on how things are going and takes the form of a Dinka woman, she lands just outside a refugee camp in Darfur and is killed by the Janjaweed mob as they pass through the camp. Nobody realises that God is dead until the five wild dogs that were feeding on her body start walking on the Nile and talking about what has happened. The book then turns into a set of tales about the end of civilisation, child worship and suicide cults.
The author is a really straight talker with a curl of humour to keep you going, short and sweet a great debut novel.
