No membership, no walls!

Local residents pull together to create an Open air library in Magdeburg Germany. The idea is that you just walk up and take a book out of a hole in the wall and bring it back when you are finished. Sounds like Utopia.

Internet filtering

A court case in America is attempting to conclude whether a Library should be allowed to refuse to disable internet filtering software. One question the case has raised is "Is the Internet a collection unto itself or can a collection development policy be applied to it, thus blocking constitutionally protected speech?" District of Columbia Public Library has created an iphone application that allows borrowers to access the library catalogue from their iphone. It allows them to search, see the item cover and place holds. One borrower who downloaded the application from itunes said, 'I think this works better than the web catalog interface! Well done.' Greetings and hello, I am sorry I did not comment more timing. I do love the site, it has so much work put into it and heaps of fun swimming around reading all the bits and pieces. I tell you its better than asking the unqualified humans in our libraries over here. I can work the computers better than they can but then the use the same software as Mosman and they aren't trained so I guess that isn't saying much. anyway will add stuff soon but am definitely looking. sorry still trying to sleep every spare minute the kids give me due to night feeding. hope Jane is well and can't wait to see you all soon. love,e
